‘Love’s Not Hard’ is taken from Ultra-Modern Rain, the brand new EP from The Early Mornings. It continues to explore the band’s signature minimalist post-punk sound, with distorted guitars chugging along above groovy bass and tight drums. This particular track is an interesting one, as most of its 90-second runtime is taken up by a lilting instrumental which eventually gives way to a one-line vocal hook that ends the song. On the EP, the band say: “We wanted to make a record where every song has a distinct personality and show that there’s still lots of interesting things to do with just a guitar, bass and drums.” Check out Ultra-Modern Rain now. -Dan Peeke.
